ROCKFORD – Two rounds are on the scorecards at the Greater Rockford Men’s Golf Classic, with the top two occupants on the leaderboard unchanged between Elliot and Ingersoll Golf Courses.
Robert Dofflemyer and Matt LaMarca each shot an even par 71 to keep their scores of -3 and -1, respectively with Dofflemyer maintaing his two-shot lead. He hit a hot streak of three straight birdies to end the front nine, followed by one bogey and eight pars on the back. LaMarca had three birdies in five holes on the front, with a double bogey on 7 squeezed in between that stretch, but he held steady on the back nine to stay within striking distance.
David Nagel and Jamie Hogan made major moves to get into the top four – Nagel finished -1 at Ingersoll and Hogan went lower to finish -3 for the round. They’re both tied for third at even par through 36 holes.
Kyle Slechta, Thomas Baker Jr., and Cody Rhymer are all tied for fifth place, each at +1 for the Men’s City.
The tournament moves to Sandy Hollow Golf Course for the third round on Saturday.
