A ‘Destiny 2’ Chalice Rune Recipe List For Menagerie Weapons And Armor

We are still in the early days of Destiny 2’s Season of Opulence here, and one part of this content drop that will continue to evolve as time goes on is our chalices, which can slowly be upgraded to find more and more new gear from this expansion.

But with so many different runes and slots and combinations, actually figuring out how to get new gear can be kind of difficult. It’s far less random than it seems, and after doing some digging, I think I’ve finally come up with as good as a rune combination recipe list as I can find, given the current information available. Though a few elements still seem up in the air.

The priority for players is going to be the new Menagerie weapons, and the new Menagerie armor sets. Though there are three slots in the chalice for runes, you only need the first two unlocked to access everything. But you will need all three Rune Compatibility upgrades for the full four colors of runes in order to get all the new weapons and armor.

So, let’s start with the most sought after stuff:

Menagerie Weapons:

Calus MINI Tool (Submachine gun) – Rune of the Beast (Purple) + Any Purple Rune

Beloved (Sniper Rifle) – Rune of Jubilation (Purple) + Any Red Rune

Austringer (Hand Cannon) – Rune of Desire (Green) + Any Red Rune

Fixed Odds (Machine Gun) – Rune of Ambition (Red) + Any Blue Rune

Drang, Baroque (Sidearm) – Rune of Pride (Green) + Any Purple Rune

The Epicurean (Fusion Rifle) – Rune of Excess (Blue) + Any Green Rune

Imperial Decree (Shotgun) – Rune of Wealth (Blue) + Any Green Rune

That will get you all seven new Menagerie weapons, which will also complete a triumph to give you another 500 imperials. There are also three swords, but I do not know how to get them yet. Now, armor:

Eververse Armor

Yes, you can actually earn the Eververse armor sets through drops in Menagerie, which is something I just learned today. That solves my “Eververse should never sell armor” problem, as the store is only selling fixed rolls out of these sets, while you can get random ones with the right rune combination. That is:

Rune of Joy (Purple), Rune of Cunning (Red), Rune of Gluttony (Red), Rune of War (Green), Rune of Pleasure (Purple) + Any Red Rune will get you the class item, arms, legs, helmet and chest, respectively.

Menagerie Armor

The same is true for the fancier Menagerie set. It’s the same list of runes, but you add blue runes instead:

Rune of Joy (Purple), Rune of Cunning (Red), Rune of Gluttony (Red), Rune of War (Green), Rune of Pleasure (Purple) + Any Blue Rune will get you the class item, arms, legs, helmet and chest, respectively.

That’s how you get all the new stuff, but there is more to farm. You can get the full Scatterhorn set (for whatever reason you’d want that) by combining the above with Purple Runes. You can get the full Dreaming City set by combining the above with Green Runes (those can roll with Enhanced perks, remember).

There are also a bunch of currently existing guns in the gaps of the weapon hunt. You can hunt specifically for old guns like Trust, Dust Rock Blues, Parcel of Stardust, Bad Omens, Waking Vigil and more with other combos of runes. I won’t list all those exact recipes here, but you can consult this chart which shows you how to get the rest.

Mysteries remain, however. In my very first run, I put one single class item rune into the Chalice and got a Year 1 Exodus Down location bond with random rolls and a slot for a Chalice rune. There’s more gear to find here, somehow, and I’m still investigating the full scope of this loot pool. But for new stuff? There you go. Happy Hunting.
