Emma Faso of Clarence is putting the finishing touches on what seems like an unusual three-sport achievement.

Faso scored a pair of goals and added three assists giving her 58 points for the season in the Red Devils’ 14-10 Division I girls lacrosse win at Orchard Park on Wednesday.

That added to the senior’s career total of 139 points in lacrosse. She also had 151 career points in ice hockey and 162 in soccer.

Last fall she had 25 goals and 10 assists for 60 points in soccer for Clarence. In the winter, she had 22 goals, 14 assists and was third in the WNY Girls Ice Hockey Federatio with 36 points for Clarence-Amherst-Sweet Home.

Faso is headed for Plattsburgh where she will play hockey.

Junior Claire Kiener had four goals and an assist for Clarence in Wednesday’s victory while Madison Leeper, a freshman, had three goals.

Clarence (6-2) is tied for second with Hamburg behind champion Lancaster (10-0) in the Division I league.

Timon edges Frannies

Senior Sean Hayes struck out 12 batters over 7.2 innings in first-place Bishop Timon-St. Jude’s 2-1 victory over St. Francis. The Tigers stand 4-1 in Monsignor Martin Association baseball with seven to play.

Cole Laskowski tripled home a run in the bottom of the sixth, then scored himself on a passed ball for St. Mary’s of Lancaster in a 2-1 win over Canisius. Trent Rumley pitched a four-hitter for the Lancers. Chris Rowan of Canisius despite allowing two hits.

South softball makes comeback

Williamsville South scored all its runs in the top of the sixth inning erasing a 3-0 deficit for a 4-3 ECIC II softball win at Hamburg. Bryanna Dewey drove in two runs for the Billies including the winner while Gabby Presutti had two hits and winning pitcher Danielle Gracz contributed an RBI double.

Boys lax seeds set

Orchard Park (Class A), Hamburg (Class B), East Aurora (Class C) and Salamanca (Class D) earned No. 1 seeds for the Section VI boys lacrosse tournament brackets announced Wednesday. First-round games are Thursday in Classes B and C. Quarterfinals in three classifications are Tuesday. The four teams in Class A will open with semifinals May 23. Defending champion Lancaster is a No. 2 seed and hosts No. 3 Clarence, while OP faces Buffalo Public Schools combined team.

The championship games will May 29 at Williamsville East.

Freshman seeks ECIC net title

Freshman Anthony Markello of East Aurora joins two more experienced ECIC boys tennis campaigners in reaching the semifinals of the championships.

Markello will face Joe Baudo of Williamsville South, who was the third place finisher in the ECIC tournament two years ago playing for Williamsville North.
Jerry Xiao of Williamsville East will face James McElhinny of Iroquois in the other semifinal.

In doubles, the Amherst team of Zach Black and Sam Greco advanced to the semifinals where they will face the Clarence pair of Matt Kozinski and River Reinhardt.

The other semifinalists former champions Noah Savoc and Declan Watson of Orchard Park must await the outcome of a suspended quarterfinal match that was interrupted by rain to learn their semifinal opponents..
