Its been going for 10 years, since 2009! The first event was a joint Venture Academy with Sofia Business Angels in the South of France in 2009. 2 Irish companies pitched at this event.
CorkBIC seeking Investor Ready Startups & Entrepreneurs
What was the inspiration to start it?
We saw an opportunity for both Investors and investor ready startups which was not available in 2009. This event enabled Investors and Seasoned entrepreneurs an opportunity to see some startups pitch without the need to be part of an investment group or syndicate; it also gives them the opportunity to give back to the startup companies with advice, coaching & mentoring without the commitment of an investment. It also gives Investor ready startups an opportunity to pitch to an audience of Investors, Business Angels & Seasoned Entrepreneurs and get real feedback, advice and coaching on their pitch.
What exciting things can people look forward to?
It is a unique opportunity for early stage startups, SMEs and investors to hear from entrepreneurs and investors, as well as seeing pitches from some of the hottest startups & entrepreneurs.
What opportunities are on offer for those attending?
At the CorkBIC Venture Academy™ participating pitching companies get real feedback, advice and coaching on their pitch. While there is no guarantee of investment at this event, to date companies who participated in the Venture Academy™ have raised over €12 million in investment and last year along 2 companies walked out with investment offers which have since closed.
Who will be speaking?
Seasoned Entrepreneurs & Investors will share their Investment journey experiences and the challenges, pitfalls and lesssons learnt.
What tips would you give to people attending to get the most out of it?
All Companies hoping to pitch must fill out the application form; in the event that we are over subscribed (which usually happens) we will review the application forms and pick the most suitable companies based on Investor readiness; Value proposition; Company pitch etc. Informal phone interviews may happy where necessary.
How can people book tickets / when does it usually sell out?
This is event is usually over subscribed by companies wanting to pitch however if you are an Investor interested please do also get in contact.
Anything else you’d like to add / we should have asked?
This event organised by CorkBIC is supported by Cork City and Cork County Councils and full details can be found at www.corkbic.com
