DUNSTABLE, ENGLAND — Jill McDonald has been named chief executive officer at Costa Coffee. She succeeds Dominic Paul, who is leaving the company in December.

Mr. Paul led Costa through its demerger from Whitebread P.L.C. and acquisition by the Coca-Cola Co. last year.

“Dominic led a significant reshaping of Costa’s international footprint, the expansion of the brand across multiple new platforms and a wide-ranging reset of the core U.K. business strategy,” said Jennifer Mann, president of global ventures for The Coca-Cola Co., parent of Costa. “I am excited to welcome Jill to the Costa family. Her track record, depth of international experience and excitement about joining our business makes her an ideal leader to build on the great work of Dominic and the rest of the Costa team.”

Ms. McDonald has worked in senior roles across several industries. She previously was managing director of clothing and home for Marks and Spencer. Before that, she was c.e.o. of Halfords Group, a U.K. retailer of bikes and leisure products. She also held several positions at McDonald’s Corp., including c.e.o. of the company’s U.K. business and division president for North Europe.
