Legal recreational marijuana sales have officially started in northern Michigan, and it’s off to a strong start.
Lit Provisioning Centers in Evart officially opened its doors at 9 a.m. and things are off to a busy start.
Employees of the store were actually there overnight, until early Friday morning, getting ready for the big opening.
The line to get in started forming at about 7:30 Friday morning and about an hour in the store had already made $2,500 in sales.
“I think that shows there’s a lot of pent up demand in Michigan for high quality, 100% compliant, tested, safe product and we expect to have heavy volume going forward,” said Doug Hellyar, president and C.O.O. of Lume Cannabis Co.
Customers range from Evart locals to those who traveled across the state to buy recreational marijuana.
