Fifteen locally owned and operated businesses in five categories are vying for the awards, which will be presented at a luncheon June 14 at the Hyatt Regency Sarasota.

The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce has announced the finalists for the 2019 Frank G. Berlin Sr. Small Business Awards.

Fifteen locally owned and operated businesses in five categories are vying for the awards, which will be presented at a luncheon June 14 at the Hyatt Regency Sarasota.

One of the category winners will also be named the “Small Business of the Year.”

The finalists in each category are:

Hospitality & Tourism — Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, The Circus Arts Conservatory and The Players Centre for Performing Arts.

Nonprofit — Forty Carrots Family Center, Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida Inc. and Safe Place and Rape Crisis Center.

Products & Services — Music Compound, Rite Technology and Sabal Palm Bank.

Professional Services — Allegiant Private Advisors, Blalock Walters P.A. and Cumberland Advisors.

Retail Business — Joe-Lin Lamp Shades, Pottery as Art and Unlimited Comfort Mattress.

The previously announced health and wellness category was removed.

Chamber member organizations that are nominated complete an application that is reviewed by a panel comprised of volunteer leaders, prior finalists and active volunteers. Finalists are selected based on scoring criteria that includes business management, growth and strategic planning, community involvement and innovation. The finalists then complete in-person interviews conducted by the same judges, who select the winners.

Tickets for the event are $55 for chamber members and $75 for nonmembers. Gold sponsorships are $775 and Silver sponsorships cost $525, the chamber said.
