My Leader Yummy – Twix Squares | Recipes

It can be frustrating when you find a recipe you want to try, only to discover you’re missing a key ingredient. However, that’s not always a bad thing.

Moments like those may prompt you to be creative and substitute an item or two, which can end up producing even tastier results.

That happened to me the other day when I wanted to make a special dessert. The recipe called for Butterfinger candy bars and all I had on hand were Twix fun-size bars. The dessert had a completely different taste than what the original recipe would have produced, and I’ll be making the revised version from now on.

Never be afraid to be experiment when you’re cooking. You might just be pleasantly surprised with the outcome!

TWIX SQUARES

1 box of butter cake mix

1 stick of butter

1 can sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)

1 cup chopped pecans

9 Fun-size Twix candy bars, chopped into big chunks

1/2 teaspoon almond extract

2 eggs, beaten

Powdered sugar for dusting

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9-by-12-inch baking dish or pan.

Mix cake mix and butter together until crumbly and press into bottom and slightly up the sides of the baking dish or pan.

In a separate bowl, mix beaten eggs with sweetened condensed milk until smooth and add nuts, Twix bars and almond extract. Pour over cake mix.

Bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool and dust with powdered sugar. Cut into squares and serve.
