Notre Dame vs. USC score: Live game updates, highlights, college football scores, full coverage

No. 9 Notre Dame established itself significant advantage with a 17-3 lead against USC at halftime on Saturday night in South Bend.

The Trojans jumped out to a 3-0 lead thanks to some great field position late in the first quarter, but it has yet to put together a drive of more than 35 yards. Notre Dame’s defense has created enough negative plays to withstand the short hits that Kedon Slovis and the Trojans’ offense have had through two quarters, which is averaging just 3.9 yards per play.

Notre Dame’s slow start offensively quickly turned in the second quarter and those explosive plays that USC was able to limit began to come easily. First Tony Jones ripped off a 43-yard run to set up a Cole Kmet touchdown, then Braden Lazenby showcased his track speed on a 51-yard misdirection run that put the Irish up by double-digits. A quick three-and-out by USC allowed Notre Dame to get one more score on the board, a 45-yard field goal by Jonathan Doerer.
