Joe Biden defended his record on climate change in the face of criticism from rivals for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination by highlighting his work on the issue dating back to the 1980s and calling for a “green revolution” that is “rational” and affordable.

Julián Castro, whose campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination has so far struggled, unveiled a sweeping plan to create a national, federally funded prekindergarten program, eliminate tuition at public universities and community colleges and alter the student-debt repayment process.

Former President Jimmy Carter underwent surgery for a broken hip after falling at his home in Georgia on his way to go turkey hunting, his office said. The surgery was described as successful.
