The Pillow Academy varsity girls and junior high girls track teams both finished second overall at the North AAAA district track meet held Wednesday at Pillow Academy.

The varsity girls had nine first-place finishes in the 17 events they competed in. Kennasia Davis and Kayla Brown had two first-place finishes apiece. Davis won the 200m dash in 29.03 seconds and the 100m dash in 13.53 seconds, while Brown won the shot put with a throw of 29 feet, 23/4 inches, and the discus with a toss of 89 feet, 11/2 inches.

Kaylee Blaylock won the 400m dash in 1:07, and Caroline Brock captured the triple jump in 33 feet, 11/2 inches, a new Bill Davis Field record.

Pillow took first in three of the four relay events. In the 400m relay, the foursome of Blaylock, Davis, Brown and Allana Hodo was first in 56.31 seconds. Tavi Layne Johnson, Davis, Brown and Virginia Harris won the 800 relay in 1:58, and the quartet of Millie Moses, Lola Harris, Kaylee Lemley and Kimsey Lindsey was first in 13:03.

Elise Howard, Allie Hargett, Avery Howard and Addison Weems was second in the 1600 relay with a time of 5:01. Weems took second in the 400 dash in 1:11, and Campbell Williams was second in the 300 hurdles in 1:03. Brock finished second in the long jump in 15 feet, 3 inches.

Sara Beth Steen was third in the shot put in 25 feet, 83/4 inches, and Davis was third in the high jump in 4 feet, 4 inches. Phillips was third in the 3200m run in 14:30, and Moses placed third in the 800 run in 3:05. Steen finished fourth in the discus in 65 feet, 101/2 inches, and Anna Flowers Hamrick was fourth in the 3200 run in 15:17. Lemley grabbed fourth in the 1600 run in 7:36.

Harris took fifth in the long jump in 13 feet, 10 inches, and Maggie Jennings was fifth in the 1600 run in 7:48. Lindsey was fifth in the 800 run in 3:14.

 The junior high girls captured five first-place finishes. Avery Howard won the pole vault in 7 feet, 6 inches, and the 400 relay team of Edi-Ann Mitchell, Sarah Presley, Weems and Virginia Harris was first in 54.15 seconds. Presley won the 100 dash in 13.47 seconds, and Mitchell won the 200 dash in 28.57 seconds. The foursome of Allie Beck, Presley, Blaylock and Mitchell won the 1600 relay in 4:46.

Blaylock was second in the high jump in 4 feet, 2 inches, and the 3200 relay team of Elise Howard, Allie Hargett, Beck and Brooke Kimmell was second in 12:21. Mitchell, Beck, Presley and Weems was second in the 800 relay in 1:56, and Williams was second in the 100 hurdles in 19.73 seconds. Howard took second in the 1600 run in 6:44, and Beck was second in the 400 dash in 1:12. Presley was second in the 200 dash in 29.00.

Harris grabbed third in the 100 dash in 14.04 seconds and the long jump in 14 feet 43/4 inches. Phillips was third in the 1600 run in 6:54. Hargett was third in the 800 run in 3:04, and Blaylock was third in the 300 hurdles in 56.65 seconds. Beck took third in the high jump in 4 feet, 2 inches, and Lola Ricketts was third in the triple jump in 29 feet 51/2 inches.

Kimmell placed fourth in the 800 run in 3:10, and Howard was fourth in the 300 hurdles in 1:00. Jennings was fourth in the discus in 53 feet, 91/2 inches, and Ricketts was fourth in the shot put in 24 feet, 91/2 inches. Weems placed fifth in the long jump in 14 feet, 5 inches.
