Service Learning to Offer New Student Travel Grants; Apply by Oct. 15

University of Arkansas Service Learning

Since fall 2015, nearly 8,000 students have participated in designated service learning courses, here and abroad, generating over 294,000 service hours to the communities in which they have served. Now the Service Learning Initiative would like to make it easier for students to travel to promote their service learning course experience or to conduct service learning based research.

Service Learning Student Travel Grants are presented to support travel for a domestic academic conference presentation related to a service learning course or research. The funds can also be used to support data collection domestically for service learning based research. The Service Learning Initiative will consider proposals for up to $1,000. Funds must be utilized by June 15, 2020.

The deadline for the grants proposals is Oct. 15. Students must have support from their service learning instructor or service learning research mentor to submit an application. Guidelines, and the link for applying can be found here.

Visit the Service Learning website for more information on this grant, grants for faculty and the designation process for service learning courses and research.
