UPTON – On Wednesday, school buses at Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School lined up for the final bus ride of the 2018-19 school year. And with waving hands and honking horns, students, teachers, and staff gathered to say good-bye and wish each other a safe and happy summer.
The “last day wave” is an annual tradition held at the end of the school year’s 193rd day, which marks the official start of Blackstone Valley Tech’s summer vacation.
This summer, school administrators, support staff and the facilities team will remain busy with several projects planned. Among the items on the task list include floor refinishing and painting of the Automotive Technology department, football field maintenance restoration, track repair and repainting of lines and other stenciling, and a top-to-bottom cleaning and maintenance of the entire facility and campus.
Meanwhile, students are encouraged to keep reading, by checking out a book at their local town libraries. Required summer reading lists are available on the school website at https://www.valleytech.k12.ma.us/summerreading.
The 2019-20 school year kick offs with a welcome barbecue for incoming freshmen, new students and their families on Thursday, Aug 15.
