CHAPMANVILLE – It wasn’t a good stretch of two days for the Chapmanville Regional High School baseball team, which lost a pair 12-2 Cardinal Conference games at home to Winfield and Sissonville at Chapmanville’s Ted Ellis Field.
The Tigers, 5-4 overall and 2-3 in the conference, fell to Winfield on Thursday and Sissonville on Friday.
In Thursday’s loss to the Generals, Nick Edwards pitched the complete game win for Winfield, going the full seven innings and allowing just one run on two hits with five strikeouts and three walks.
Brennan Williams doubled and Dakota Collins singled for Chapmanville’s only two hits. Conner Mullins drove in one.
Mullins was the starting and losing pitcher for CRHS. He went for innings and allowed six runs (just one earned) on three hits with 10 strikeouts and two walks. Tyler Thompson and William Kirkendoll pitched in relief.
Winfield scored one run in the first, one in the second, two in the third and two more in the fourth to take a 6-0 lead.
Chapmanville scored its only two runs in the fifth. The Generals then plated five in the sixth and one in the seventh.
Hunter Morris and Peyton Moulder had two hits each for Winfield, which improved to 8-2 overall with Friday’s 10-0 win over Roane County. The Generals are 4-1 in the conference.
No statistics were available on Friday night’s CRHS game.
The Tigers were scheduled to host Westside on Saturday. CRHS hosts Poca on Monday at 6:30 p.m. and then host Nitro on Tuesday at 7.
This coming weekend, Chapmanville hosts the annual Daffer Memorial Tournament on Friday and Saturday. Tigers are matched up against the Wayne Pioneers on Friday at 7 p.m.
