OSKALOOSA, Kan. (WIBW)– Once you step into the city of Oskaloosa, you are transported to a land of rich history.
Wind Wagon Cafe Manager Johanna Cobb says you’ll get that and more at her eatery, which is one of only three restaurants in the entire town.
“We have a pizza restaurant, and a Mexican restaurant,” Cobb said. “We offer the family-style part– we have the hamburgers we have the cheeseburgers we have the onion rings!”
The home-style cooking attracts customers from all over the country.
“I’ve had people come through from Montana, I’ve had people come from Oklahoma,” she said.
Before you sit a a table you better have an empty belly, as Johanna and her husband Brent Cobb, and their kitchen crew work hours to serve up good food with big portions.
From tasty breakfast omelets, to fresh made burgers, and pork tenderloin sandwiches she says are larger than life you are sure to find what you want to eat at the Wind Wagon cafe.
And the food is all from scratch.
The Cobbs say they aren’t just a home style cafe, but a dedicated fixture of the community.
“There’s a need for a restaurant and I can supply that,” Cobb said. “That’s what motivates me to get up every morning.”
From the customers to employees, there’s only one word to describe every one that walks through the Wind Wagon door.
“One of my customers actually said it best,” Cobb said, “He walked in one day and I was waiting tables and I had not gotten a chance to clean the table. I said ‘oh no, I’m sorry.’ He sat down and said, ‘you don’t have to worry about it when you’re family.'”
The Cobbs say they hope to put a smile on your face, and good food on your plate.
“We serve good food, we have good service, and we would love for you to come visit us,” she said.
You can find Wind Wagon on 522 Liberty St. in Oskaloosa. The cafe is open from 7:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and open until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.
